The Night Safari

The Nature Park Night Safari, joined to the Singapore Zoo, provides an amazing opportunity for its guests to walk through a night jungle and plunge into the mysterious world of wild nature. It is a true tropical forest, where over one hundred different animal species live on a territory covering some 40 hectares in as close to natural conditions as possible. There are no cages: the animals are separated from each other and from the park’s visitors using natural barriers – ditches, waterfalls, bushes – creating an illusion of environmental freedom. The special illumination, skilfully imitating the moonlight. allows animals to feel calm and natural, despite the visitors.

The park is divided in eight zones, each of which reproduces the natural conditions of various global geographical zones: African savannah, South American pampas, Burmese jungle, Nepal river valley, Southeast Asian tropics and much more. In total, over a thousand animals live in the Night Safari. Thanks to the special illumination, the inhabitants pay virtually no attention to visitors whatsoever, meaning that explorers can see how the Asian fishing cat hunts in the pond, how flying squirrels easily glide from tree to tree, otters frolic and Malayan flying foxes – the largest bats in the world – hang from the branches of the trees. Jackals and mountain deer, rhinoceros and Asian lions, hyenas and giraffes all feel free and easy, while Indian elephants and tapirs, giant ant-eaters and bears, roam freely through the Singapore Park.

It is possible either to walk through the park - following the maps and numerous signs - or alternatively to ride in the special trams, as guides explain all about the species that live in the Night Safari. However, it is far better to combine both options, which allow the guests to see many more animals. In addition to the tours, the show "Creatures of the Night" is organized in the park every evening, weather permitting of course. This show is especially popular among the park's younger guests.

Visiting night jungle can be combined with a visit to the famous Singapore Zoo, with discounts for visitors to both attractions. However, the Night Safari is worth a visit on its own merits.

Getting there: Take the subway to the station Choa Chu Kang (NS4), then go on SMRT bus №927 to the zoo. Another option would be to take a subway to the station Ang Mo Kio (NS16), then SBS bus №138.

Consider doing the walk rather than the crazy queue for the tram, or go after 9pm when the crowds have eased.

I think this is a must see in Singapore. Very nice atmosphere. Both tram ride and trail walks are amazing. The "Creatures of the Night" show was nothing special.

Good experience for kids. Definitely for kids (but not under 4yrs old, else they might end up bawling).

We are not recommending it to anyone. We waited so long in the queu. The animals look like numbed. There were so many deer species. It is waste of time and money.
