The restaurant Tatsuya, situated on the Goodwood Park Hotel’s territory, is famous for one of the longest bars in Singapore, original interior and high level of service.

The facility serves Japanese dishes, cooked only from fresh ingredients, most of which are delivered from Japan. Tatsuya’s menu has some unusual dishes, for example, beef sashimi.

Sushi-bar with the bar, made of 2000-year-old coniferous tree, and small room for 18 people are at guests’ disposal.

There is limited free parking in front of the restaurant on a first come first served basis; 9 numbered lots with a few unmarked ones.

Classic destination for high end Japanese cuisine but somewhat overpriced. In Apr 2022 even lunch sets started at $80.

Dessert not mentioned on set: green tea, black sesame, yuzu/peach ice cream. Peach good. Mostly smooth with a good flavour. With dessert, they changed tea to roasted rice tea, which was a nice touch.

The sushi was served with a designated eating order: left to right. Each had a different topping. Tuna nigiri was particularly good. They provide real wasabi on request.

Japanese Black pork was good. It had a sweet sauce. The miso soup was good: on the light side. The mushroom helped.

Aburi sushi set came with sea bream roe & marinated smelt fish. The roe was decent - clumped together. The smelt was very nice: fried then served with a zesty sauce.

Most of the set menus don't have an explanation of what's inside, only photos. In 2012 they refused to translate them but now things have changed.

This is what unfiltered sake looks like, milky. And the taste is not refined

Look for a set of shelves with photo frames of Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore's first Prime Minister, at the restaurant. Looks like this is one of his favourite dining spot????

Black sesame ice-cream. Possibly the most refined we have tasted from any Jap resto in SG. Distinct flavour, long creamy yet light aftertaste

Excellent sushi - probably one of the best I’ve had. Definitely a $$$$ restaurant, though. Cost ~$140/person without drinks.
