In Singapore, where Chinese community form the majority population, the Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival has grown to become one of the most anticipated events of the year. The festival is traditionally held between late January and early February.

During the celebration of the Chinese New Year, Singapore comes alive: several weeks before the feast, its streets turn into the magical kingdom of light and colors. The event epicenter China Town is decorated with spectacular adornments, Chinese ornaments and lanterns. The city features festive markets, where one may buy souvenirs, adornments, as well as taste Chinese dishes.

During celebration, Singapore hosts a great many of festivals, shows and performances. One of its highlights is Chingay Parade, the largest one in Singapore, that boasts folk dances and boat races.

The Chinese New Year is the best way to get to know local customs and traditions, soak in the festive atmosphere, and have a good rest.
