How to get there by Singapore MRT. Singapore interactive metro guide.

The Singapore Flyer is the largest Ferris wheel in the world. Its ability to elevate its passengers to a height of 165 meters means that it is 5 meters higher than Chinese Star Of Nanchang, which had previously been the largest such wheel on the planet. Nowadays, the Singapore Flyer is one of the most visited tourist attractions on the island.

The Ferris wheel has 28 air-conditioned glass capsules, each of which can seat 28 people, with a full turn of the Singapore Flyer taking, logically, 28 minutes. It is far from accidental; the locals see a special magic in this number. 8 is considered to be a lucky number in China, because it is consonant to ‘prosperity’ in Cantonese dialect and symbolizes luck. Put a two at the front and 28 symbolizes double luck, lending the Singapore Flyer its nickname: Wheel of Fortune. The island's more superstitious gamblers even have special ritual: before visiting the casino, they always take a ride on the Singapore Flyer.

Other tourists come to the Singapore Ferris wheel in order to admire the luxurious panoramas of the city and its outskirts. One can see the whole of Singapore from the rising cars: the business center with its gigantic skyscrapers, ancient buildings from colonial times, the picturesque Marina Bay, the famous Singapore Port and dozens of moored ships. Visibility range from the Singapore Flyer is about 45 kilometers, while on a clear day, you can even see the Indonesian islands and Malaysia's Johor from its peak. It is always worth taking an evening ride on the wheel, in order to admire Singapore while it is lit with many-colored lights.

In addition to the standard capsules, the Singapore Flyer also has VIP segments. A ride in these capsules includes two turns on the wheel, lasting about an hour, a four course dinner and a famous Singapore Sling cocktail. Before making a rotation on the Ferris wheel, it is possible to visit the multimedia center Journey of Dreams, which tells the story of the Singapore Flyer's construction, featuring a 360-degree panorama of the island and its surroundings.

Important! Generally speaking, there will be long lines for the ride during the high season, so it is worth buying tickets in advance at the Singapore Flyer's official website. This not only eliminates the need to wait in line, but also allows the buyer a 10% discount as well as some other special offers.

Pricey but you certainly get a great view of the city! Each time I visit Singapore I seem to get back here. As a plus, if you're in town for the F1, you get a one of a kind view of the starting grid!
