How to get there by Singapore MRT. Singapore interactive metro guide.

The MacRitchie Reservoir Park is a plot of primeval tropical forest that surrounds the water body of the same name, which is in fact the oldest reservoir in Singapore. It acts as a sort of gate to the Central Nature Reserve – the largest such complex in the country with an area spanning 2000 hectares.

Well-maintained pedestrian paths run through the entirety of the park’s territory. These block pavements stretch along the MacRitchie Reservoir and through its protected jungles. The longest of these routes is almost 12 kilometers long and it takes about four hours to make it to the end. For ease of use, it is divided in zones, each of which is indicated with certain color on the map.

A stroll through the tropical jungle is a perfect opportunity to meet the numerous wild inhabitants of the woodland and to listen to the exotic birdsong. Huge caoutchouc trees – remnants of the plantations that grew here in the 19th century– can be seen here. MacRitchie Reservoir Park’s crowning glory is the 250-meter-long hanging bridge - Tree Top Walk - that hangs at the height of 25 meters and allows the observation of jungle life from above.

It is possible to rent a kayak for boat trip or for fishing. The park also offers an opportunity for tasty refreshments in the special food-zone, which is located near to the MacRitchie water body.

Accessible and relatively big reservoir with many routes available, either for walks or jogging. Paths sometimes quite narrow given the many runners and walkers with dogs.

Dog friendly and with beautiful reservoir views. Long trail and heaps of shaded spots and walkways if you’re not a huge fan of the sun.

Come here for a breathe of fresh air and beautiful reservoir views. Many trails of different difficulty for hikers/ runners either along the perimeter of reservoir or in the tropical rainforest.

Filled with hiking trails, you can take a slow stroll around water catchments or trek to the Treetop Walk – a 250m suspended bridge connecting two hilltops which allow a bird’s eye view of the forest.

Fantastic walk. Watch for food snatching monkeys though. Keep food well hidden when you are at main rest stops. Was also a monkey on the tree tops bridge when we went.

Try to locate the ruins of a Shinto temple near the golf course. It's hidden a couple of meters in the shrubbery.

Nice place to both exercise or jog for relaxation. You can sometimes meet some little monkeys or tortoises near the lake. They're quite cute!
